Biography
Bronwyn James was born on July 24, 1994, in Wakefield, Yorkshire, England. She trained at CAPA College in Wakefield and graduated from the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in 2015 with a BA in Acting. James began her professional career in Martin McDonagh’s play Hangmen, first at the Royal Court Theatre and later at Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End. She gained recognition for her role as Fanny in the period drama Harlots (2017–2019) and has since appeared in various film and television projects, including Wicked (2024) and Mickey 17 (2025).

Career Life
Bronwyn James's acting career began with her role as Shirley in Hangmen at the Royal Court Theatre in 2015. She continued in the play’s cast when it transferred to Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End in 2016. James appeared in the filmed version of the play, National Theatre Live: Hangmen (2016). She also had a recurring role as Fanny Lambert in the ITV Encore series Harlots from 2017 to 2019. James's film credits include Peterloo (2018), The Dig (2021), The Colour Room (2021), and Wicked (2024).

Personal Life
Bronwyn James married Katherine-Alice James in May 2023. Katherine-Alice is the founder of Hearts Collective, a Yorkshire-based nonprofit promoting accessibility in the arts. James has used her platform to support her wife's nonprofit work. In January 2024, it was announced that she would play Ruffnut Thorston in the live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon, set to release on June 13, 2025.
