Career Life
Gelula’s acting career began at age ten with an extra role in Lady in the Water. While in sixth grade she secured an agent, and later starred in a theatre production of August: Osage County. After relocating to Los Angeles, she worked odd jobs while auditioning. Her TV roles include Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (as Xanthippe), Jennifer Falls, Chasing Life, Casual, and Shameless. Her film breakthrough was First Girl I Loved (2016), followed by Flower, Support the Girls, Her Smell, Shithouse, I Want You Back, Dream Scenario, and Smile 2. She also co-created the podcast Lecture Hall.
Personal Life
Dylan Gelula was born to parents Jonathan and Karen Gelula and has at least one brother. Raised in reform Judaism, she found high school socially and academically challenging. She left high school due to absences and moved to Los Angeles at seventeen to pursue acting. She has been noted as vegetarian or vegan in sources, and lives independently. Her work ethic includes balancing small jobs early on (waitressing, resale work) while building her career.
