Born on 7 December 1962 in Patna, Bihar, he studied at Vikas Vidyalaya, Ranchi, and graduated in History from Ramjas College, Delhi University. Shekhar made his acting debut with the television serial Wah Janaab (1984) and soon gained popularity through acclaimed shows like Dekh Bhai Dekh and Movers & Shakers. With his sharp wit, humor, and charismatic presence, he became a household name in India, excelling in films, television, theatre, and as a reality show judge, winning hearts nationwide.

Shekhar Suman was born into a middle-class family in Patna, Bihar, and later moved to Delhi for higher studies. He is married to Alka Kapur, and the couple shares a strong bond. They had two sons, Aayush and Adhyayan. Tragically, Aayush passed away at a young age due to a heart ailment, a loss that deeply affected the family. His other son, Adhyayan Suman, pursued a career in acting and singing.
