Sridevi, born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan on 13 August 1963 in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, was an iconic Indian actress known as the "First Female Superstar" of Indian cinema. She began acting at the age of four in the Tamil film Kandan Karunai and went on to work across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films. With her captivating screen presence, expressive eyes, and versatile talent, Sridevi became one of the most celebrated actresses in India. She received numerous awards, including the Padma Shri in 2013. Sridevi passed away unexpectedly on 24 February 2018 in Dubai, leaving behind a legendary legacy.

Career Life
Sridevi’s career spanned over five decades and more than 300 films. She gained fame in South Indian cinema before achieving superstardom in Bollywood with films like Himmatwala (1983), Sadma (1983), Chandni (1989), Lamhe (1991), Mr. India (1987), and English Vinglish (2012). Known for her comic timing, dancing skills, and dramatic versatility, she played a variety of roles that broke stereotypes for women in Indian cinema. After a 15-year hiatus, her comeback in English Vinglish was critically acclaimed. Her final film, Mom (2017), won her a National Film Award posthumously, cementing her as one of India’s greatest performers.

Personal Life
Sridevi was born to Ayyapan and Rajeswari, growing up in a Tamil-Telugu family. Despite lacking formal education due to her early start in films, she carved a name for herself through talent and dedication. In 1996, she married film producer Boney Kapoor, becoming stepmother to Arjun and Anshula Kapoor, and mother to daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. She was known for her private and family-oriented life off-screen. Tragically, she passed away in 2018 due to accidental drowning in Dubai, sparking immense grief across the nation. Her legacy lives on through her films and her daughter Janhvi’s entry into Bollywood.
