Tanner Emmanuel Buchanan was born on December 8, 1998, in Lima, Ohio. Raised in a Christian household, he is the only child of Steve and Marlona Buchanan, both industrial engineers. His maternal grandfather was Filipino. Buchanan began his artistic journey at a young age, excelling in skateboarding, taekwondo, and dance. He trained in various dance styles and earned national tap dance titles. At eight, he moved to Los Angeles with his family to pursue acting, studying at institutions like the Edge Performing Arts Centre and Huckleberry Friend Productions.

Career Life
Buchanan's acting career commenced in 2010 with a minor role in Modern Family. He gained recognition through recurring roles in The Goldbergs, The Fosters, and Game Shakers. His breakout role came as Leo Kirkman in ABC's Designated Survivor (2016–2018). He further solidified his fame portraying Robby Keene in Netflix's Cobra Kai (2018–2025), a role that showcased his martial arts skills. Additionally, Buchanan starred in the romantic comedy He's All That (2021) and has appeared in Fuller House.

Personal Life
Buchanan is engaged to his Cobra Kai co-star Mary Mouser. The couple met during the show's first season in 2017 and confirmed their relationship in February 2025 during a red carpet event for the series finale. They expressed their joy and gratitude for the support received from fans and colleagues. Buchanan has previously dated actress Lizze Broadway.
