Biography
Varun Sharma was born on 4 February 1990 in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. He studied at The Lawrence School, Sanawar and later at Apeejay School in Jalandhar. He pursued a bachelor’s degree in Media, Entertainment and Film Technology from ITFT Chandigarh. Varun is best known for his comedic timing, especially for his quirky and memorable role of “Choocha” in the hit film franchise. His early life and education laid a foundation for his entry into the film industry, where he chose to leverage his humour and supporting actor strengths.
Career Life
Varun made his Bollywood debut with the comedy-drama Fukrey in 2013, directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, where his portrayal of the character “Choocha” became an instant audience favourite. Following this breakthrough, he featured in films such as Dolly Ki Doli (2015), Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015) and the major box-office release Dilwale (2015). He reprised his Choocha role in the sequel Fukrey Returns (2017), which again achieved commercial success. Over the years, he has taken on a variety of supporting and comedic roles, expanding into web shows and other genres, thereby demonstrating versatility beyond his initial comic persona.
Personal Life
Varun keeps his personal affairs fairly private. He hails from a Punjabi background and grew up in Jalandhar with schooling in Sanawar and Jalandhar. Before his film career fully launched, he did commercials for major brands like Virgin Mobile, Airtel and Nissan Micra.
