Vicky Kaushal was born on 16 May 1988 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, to parents Sham Kaushal (a stunt-director) and Veena Kaushal. He grew up in modest surroundings in suburban Mumbai and completed his schooling before earning a bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering from the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology. Though his father initially hoped for a stable career path for him, Vicky discovered his passion for acting early on and gradually transitioned into Bollywood.
Career Life
Vicky began his film-industry journey working as an assistant director to Anurag Kashyap on Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). His acting debut in a lead role came with Masaan (2015), which earned wide critical acclaim. He later gained mainstream recognition for films like Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), for which he won the National Film Award for Best Actor.
