He began his career in television with shows like Just Mohabbat and Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. Acharya made his directorial debut with Tashan (2008), followed by Dhoom 3 (2013), which became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of its time. He also directed Thugs of Hindostan (2018) and The Great Indian Family (2023). Acharya is married to Anusheh Khan, sister of director Kabir Khan.
