Raj Subramaniam was born on September 14, 1967, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. He completed his B.Tech. in chemical engineering from IIT Bombay in 1987, followed by an MS from Syracuse University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Subramaniam joined FedEx in 1991 as an associate marketing analyst. Over the years, he held various leadership roles, including President and CEO of FedEx Express. In June 2022, he succeeded Fred Smith as President and CEO of FedEx Corporation, becoming the second person to lead the company.

He served as the Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications, President and CEO of FedEx Express, and President and Chief Operating Officer of FedEx Corporation. In 2022, he became the President and CEO of FedEx Corporation. Under his leadership, FedEx has focused on enhancing operational efficiency and leveraging technology to improve service delivery. Subramaniam has been instrumental in implementing data-driven strategies and predictive technologies to enhance the global supply chain.
Personal Life
Raj Subramaniam is married to Uma Subramaniam, and the couple resides in Memphis, Tennessee, where FedEx is headquartered. They have two children. While Subramaniam maintains a private personal life, he has spoken about the importance of family and balance. He attributes much of his success to the support and values instilled by his parents. His father, C. Subramaniam, was a former Director General of Police in Kerala, and his mother, Dr. B. Komalammal, was a retired health director. Subramaniam's upbringing emphasized discipline, education, and community service.
